WELCOME TO OJO BIO!

PRE-ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Hello! We’re looking forward to your arrival! Here are the instructions:

1. To find our property, please put Ojo Bio Panama into Google Maps or Waze. Please send me a whatsapp text message at +1 310 429 1515 the morning of your arrival and give me an idea of your arrival time.

2. Coming from the David side: When you get to the Terpel gas station at Chiriqui Grande (it’s where you make the left hand turn after you’ve come all the way over the mountains), please send me a whatsapp text message at +1 310 429 1515- that alerts me that you are about 45 minutes away. MAKE SURE THE MESSAGE GOES THROUGH BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE GAS STATION! There is no signal between there and my place.

Coming from the Almirante side: Just message us when you get to Almirante and make SURE you tell us you’re coming from Almirante!!

3. Continue driving to our property. We have a large wooden gate that says OJO BIO with a thatched roof over it, and the front of the property has a chain link fence. If you are coming by bus, the driver can drop you off right at our place.

4. You will be meeting our Panamanian property manager (either Clemente or Timo), at the gate. If you have a car, you can park in our secured, covered parking area at the top of the property and we’ll bring you and your things down to the house.

5. Make sure you bring your own groceries! As stated in the listing, there are no stores or restaurants nearby. You can drink the water here at Ojo Bio! We have a 260+ foot deep well that has the cleanest, best tasting water in Bocas!

6. Remember, we do NOT allow checkins after 6pm for any reason. So please make sure you give yourself plenty of time to arrive!

PROPERTY INFORMATION

Welcome to Ojo Bio! If you need anything or have any questions, please send me a whatsapp text message at +13104291515. Here are a few things to know:

THE HOUSE

1. You have a keychain with a key to your door, the front gate, the dock gate, and the kayak room on the dock. Please do not lose your keys. We charge $100 to replace the keys, because we have to get some of them made in Panama City or we have to put new locks on.
2. You are VERY SAFE here!! We leave our doors and windows open all night to let the air in.
3. We are off grid and use solar power. When the sun goes down, the batteries power the house. It is very important that you conserve electricity at night! Don’t leave lights on unless needed. Don’t charge electronics. Etc….
4. You can flush toilet paper ONLY down the toilet. Do NOT flush anything besides toilet paper. If you do and the pipe clogs, we charge $150.
5. Propane
6. Washer
7. Trash

THE CARIBBEAN SEA

1. If you are swimming or snorkeling, please note that there are sea urchins. Do NOT stand on the seafloor, and check the ladder before you go up or down. As you walk down the dock, the sea grass beds are on the right. The coral reef is on your left. Straight off the end of the dock is deep water for swimming. Please do NOT touch the coral!! And use reef safe sunscreen at all times.

2. There is a bag in your room with 2 sets of snorkel gear. Please clean it before you use it and after you use it with soap and water in the sink. Completely dry the gear before you put it back in the bag.
3. At certain times of the year there can be jellyfish. I recommend that you swim in leggings and a long sleeve rash guard. If you do get stung, do NOT touch the sting!! there is a bottle of vinegar in the kayak room. Pour just a little bit on the sting.

4. We have a 2 person kayak and snorkel gear for you to use for free. There is a key to the kayak room on your keyring.  If you are kayaking, do NOT get out on any land- all of the land around us is private property.

5. There is a bag in your room with 2 hammocks. Feel free to take them to the dock and hang them from the metal beams. Please fold and put the hammocks back into the bags after use. Do NOT leave them unsupervised at the dock!! You are welcome to sleep in the hammocks at night if you’d like! Much cooler at the dock!
6. There is a small table and chairs in the kayak room. Bring them out to use if you would like. Do NOT leave them unsupervised at the dock!!

THE JUNGLE

1. You are welcome to explore our entire property! It is completely fenced, so if you hit a fence just turn around. 🙂 We have a wonderful hiking trail through the jungle that goes to the top of the property.

2. We grow a lot of different types of fruit on the property. Ask Clemente or Timo if anything is ripe now and they’ll be more than happy to bring some to you!

3. We see lots of monkeys and sloths most times of the year! Keep your eyes to the trees! If you hear something roaring around 5am, don’t be scared. It’s just the howler monkeys telling you the sun is on its way!

4. There are lots of little green and black poison dart frogs around in the gardens- especially after a rain. Look, but don’t touch!

7. Buses leave from the top of the property every 30 minutes or so to Almirante. From there you can take a water taxi to Bocas Town on Isla Colon.

8. If you need to go to the top of the property for any reason, let Papsy know and he can give you a ride in the UTV. That hill is steep!

9. Any questions, any problems, Papsy and I are here to help! You can ask him or send me a message. Enjoy your stay!
